Oklahoma City Thunder wins tracker: Can OKC break the NBA’s single-season wins record?

There is still quite a ways to go in the 2025-26 NBA season, but the Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a historic start.

If they keep this up, they could be a legitimate threat to the Golden State Warriors’ single-season wins record of 73.

Only two teams in league history have won more than 70 games in a single season. The first was the Chicago Bulls during the 1995-96 campaign, when they won 72 games. The Warriors broke that record by one in 2016. The Bulls won the NBA championship in their record-breaking season, while the Warriors ultimately fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers during their Finals run.

The reigning NBA champion Thunder are currently on a 13-game winning streak after defeating the Golden State Warriors 124-112 on Tuesday night, and have now won 21 of their first 22 games. Their only loss was to the Portland Trail Blazers by two points. They’ve also won their contests by an average of nearly 15 points, which would be the highest mark in NBA history.

Again, it’s early. A lot can change between now and April. But the Thunder’s hot start is something to keep an eye on. Here’s everything you need to know about the Thunder’s quest to set the NBA’s single-season wins record.

Bucks reportedly talking with Giannis Antetokounmpo about his potential exit from team; Giannis injured shortly after report

The Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo have started conversations about his future with the franchise and “whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday

Per the report, “a resolution is expected in the coming weeks.”

Hours after the report, Antetokounmpo sustained a non-contact calf strain in Milwaukee’s game against the Detroit Pistons. The severity of the injury was initially unclear. It was also unclear how long he would be sidelined.

Antetokounmpo suffered the injury in the first quarter, and the Bucks ruled him out with the calf strain shortly after he left the court.

Prior to Wednesday’s game, head coach Doc Rivers was adamant that Antetokounmpo had not requested a trade.

“I want to make it clear for the — I want to say one more time — for the 50th time, and clearly it’s not getting to one network, for sure, Giannis has never asked to be traded,” Rivers told reporters, per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm. “Ever. I can’t make that more clear.”

Rivers also denied that the Bucks have engaged in such conversations with Antetokounmpo or his agent, Alex Saratsis.

“There’s been no conversations,” Rivers said.

Rivers does not work in Milwaukee’s front office. Jon Horst is the general manager and head of basketball operations. Horst has not commented publicly on Charania’s report. Antetokounmpo did not speak with media prior to Wednesday’s tip.

The report of the conversations arrives amid a 9-13 start for the Bucks in which they’re in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

A nine-time All-Star and two-time NBA MVP, Antetokounmpo is a franchise icon and led the Bucks to their second NBA championship in 2021. But the Bucks have failed to compete for a championship since winning that title and don’t look like a playoff team this season as constructed.

Antetokounmpo, 30, remains a dominant force and one of the NBA’s elite players. With Milwaukee out of contention, it appears that the Bucks have resigned themselves to considering a complete rebuild while sending Antetokounmpo to another franchise where he could compete for a championship.

Since winning the 2021 championship, the Bucks have failed to advance out of the second round of the playoffs. They’ve suffered first-round exits in each of the last three seasons. Antetokounmpo’s top running mates from that championship team, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday, are both gone.

And Milwaukee’s efforts to build another contending roster around Antetokounmpo sank when Damian Lillard suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last season.

With Antetokounmpo carrying the load, Milwaukee got off to a 6-3 start this season that included a win over a New York Knicks team that Antetokounmpo’s name has been associated with in trade rumors. But that start was not sustainable, and the Bucks have since gone 3-10, including losses in eight of their last nine games. Antetokounmpo missed four games with a groin injury during that stretch.

Since Monday’s loss to the Washington Wizards, Antetokounmpo has scrubbed mentions of the Bucks from his social media, fueling further speculation of his discord with the state of the team.

Amid reports linking his name in trade talks, Antetokounmpo reiterated his desire to compete for championships at Milwaukee’s media day on Sept. 30.

“Guys, every summer there’s truth,” Antetokounmpo said. “To every report. The same thing I’ve been saying my whole career — I want to be on a team that allows me, gives me a chance to win a championship and wants to compete at a high level.”

Antetokounmpo is playing on a three-year, $186 million contract extension that he signed in 2023 in the aftermath of Milwaukee’s trade to acquire Lillard. That extension includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.

Whatever his future holds, his injury is now the immediate concern.

There are only five weeks left in the regular season. As Week 14 begins, the Dallas Cowboys will go on the road to face the Detroit Lions for “Thursday Night Football.”

Both of these teams played on Thanksgiving. The Lions were upset by the Green Bay Packers, while the Cowboys held strong at home and beat the Kansas City Chiefs

Dallas enters Week 14 with a 6-5-1 record. The Cowboys sit in second place in the NFC East and trail the Philadelphia Eagles by two games. If the playoffs started today, Dallas would be on the outside looking in. Only seven teams will make the NFC’s playoff bracket, and the Cowboys are currently the No. 9 team in the NFC.

The Lions’ loss to the Packers hurt their playoff standing. Detroit is now also outside the NFC’s playoff picture. The Lions had a chance to head into Week 14 atop the NFC North, but instead they sit in third behind the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. Detroit has a 7-5 record, trailing the Bears by one game, putting a lot of importance on each of the Lions’ remaining games.

Cowboys

6:46 p.m. — One of the biggest storylines of the game has been whether or not star Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown will be able to suit up. He missed nearly all of Detroit’s Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers due to an ankle injury.

While it was assumed that he would need another week, the wide receiver went through workouts and gave ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler a thumbs up running off the field when asked if he was going to play.

6:35 p.m. — The Cowboys will be wearing dark navy jerseys. Dallas will be in white pants and silver helmets.

6:15 p.m. — The Lions will be home at Ford Field for the second Thursday in a row. Detroit will be wearing its white jerseys with white pants. Their helmets will be silver and blue.

5:45 p.m. — The Lions are coming off a loss. While many would worry about how they will respond, Detroit usually likes being able to adjust after a loss. Since 2022, the Lions are 14-0 after a loss

5:15 p.m. — Kickoff isn’t for about three hours. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott is already walking the field. He isn’t in uniform quite yet, but talked to Jane Slater about the last time the Cowboys were in Detroit. The quarterback said, “we lit them up, lot of passing yards. about to do it again.”

Amon-Ra St. Brown injury: What status means for Week 14 vs. Cowboys

The 7-5 Detroit Lions host the 6-5-1 Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football as 3-point home favorites to start off Week 14. The Lions continue a stretch of inconsistency, while the Cowboys have come on strong of late with three wins in a row, including back-to-back wins over the two Super Bowl participants last season, the Eagles and Chiefs.

This looked like an easy win for the Lions a month ago, but no more. Plus, this week they could be without their top wide receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is listed as questionable.

Amon-Ra St. Brown injury updates

Game day update: St. Brown is ACTIVE for Thursday Night Football.

St. Brown was forced from last week’s Thanksgiving day game against the Packers due to an early game ankle injury. The injury doesn’t appear to be one that will keep him out multiple games, but he didn’t practice once ahead of this matchup. He is listed as questionable, but it isn’t often we see a player not practice at all and still play. Of course, it does happen sometimes, and St. Brown is a player who doesn’t need practice to be ready to play.

Fantasy football analysis

If he can play, it would be tough sitting him in such a good matchup. The Cowboys have improved defensively, but they can still be thrown on and the Lions have a truly explosive offense, especially when St. Brown is in there. If he is active, hopefully we get some in-depth reporting on just how close to 100% he is, but on face value, I’m starting him if he available.

If he can’t go, it opens up work for Tom Kennedy as a direct slot replacement and Isaac TeSlaa, who will replace Kalif Raymond, who is out this week. But overall, Jameson Williams should become a target hog and a must start in every format you can imagine.

Luka Doncic remains out for personal reasons as Lakers begin road trip

The Los Angeles Lakers are planning to be without star player Luka Dončić for the short-term, possibly for the entirety of their three-game road trip that begins tonight.

“Obviously, he’s away from the team for personal reasons,” Lakers coach JJ Redick told reporters Thursday, Dec. 4 prior to the team’s game against the Toronto Raptors. “Hope to have him back soon, but don’t have a pin-pointed day yet.”

The Lakers confirmed that designation on Thursday’s injury report ahead of the game in Toronto.

Though the team did not have a clear timeline, Dončić appears likely to also miss the team’s next game, given that the Lakers are on the first leg of a back-to-back. Los Angeles plays the Celtics in Boston Friday, Dec. 5.

The Lakers are beginning a three-game road trip Thursday that concludes Sunday, Dec. 7 in Philadelphia. After that, they return to Los Angeles for one game against the San Antonio Spurs – in an NBA Cup quarterfinal matchup – before heading back on the road for another three-game road trip.

Given that the team is on the road, the Lakers may opt to wait for their return to Los Angeles for Dončić to rejoin them.

Dončić, 26, has had a tremendous start to the season, leading the NBA in scoring at 35.3 points per game. He has also added 8.9 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game as the Lakers are sitting at 15-5, which is second in the Western Conference.

Dončić played in Los Angeles’ most recent game, Monday, Dec. 1 against the Phoenix Suns, and recorded 38 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the 125-108 loss.

NWSLPA files grievance against league regarding Rodman contract offer

The National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA) has filed a grievance against the league after a multi-million dollar contract extension offered to Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman was vetoed by NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman. The NWSLPA is arguing that the veto was a “flagrant violation” of several sections of the current collective bargaining agreement.

Berman, meanwhile, is arguing that the extension would violate the league’s salary cap rules. She also believes it promotes parity, having previously stated that owners not being able to outspend one another is pivotal to parity for the league.

A league spokeperson said in a statement, “Our goal is to ensure that the very best players in the world, including Trinity, continue to call this league home. We will do everything we can, utilizing every lever available within our rules to keep Trinity Rodman here.”

What was Rodman’s expected contract?

Rodman was offered a deal reportedly worth $1 million per season, according to USA Today’s Scooby Axson via The Athletic.

Rodman’s offer was also expected to be backloaded, which would’ve benefitted the Spirit, considering that under the current CBA, the league’s salary cap will rise every year through 2030. There is no maximum salary defined by the CBA.

Rodman is one of the most talented players in the NWSL. Her presence in the league helps keep the NWSL competitive with European leagues. Rodman’s departure would undoubtedly cause great harm to an otherwise rising sports league.

Will Rodman remain in the NWSL?

It is unknown whether or not Rodman will remain with the NWSL. That said, Washington Spirit owner Michelle Kang has said that the team will do “anything within our power” to keep Rodman with the club.

According to ESPN, Washington’s new president of soccer operations Haley Carter also called Rodman “a top priority.”

The league has recently also lost star players like Alyssa Thompson to Chelsea in September. The added loss of Rodman to a team abroad could do serious damage.

CANTON, Ohio, Dec. 4 — The Anderson [Cincinnati, OH] Raptors and the Avon [OH] Eagles will meet Thursday night at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium to decide Ohio’s OHSAA Division II state championship in high school football.

The Raptors enter the game with an unblemished 14-0 record while Avon has compiled a 13-1 ledger in defense of their 2024 state championship. These two teams also met in last year’s finale with Avon winning, 20-13.

Last year, both teams entered the game 15-0, meaning that Anderson is 29-1 in its last 30 games with the only loss coming to Avon. But this time, Avon enters the game with a loss, and Anderson is a slight favorite based on most national rankings heading into this year’s title tilt.

The game will kick off at 7 p.m. EST local.

Cowboys vs. Lions: Thursday Night Football

Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season begins tonight with a matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions.

The Philadelphia Eagles will obviously be rooting for a Lions win tonight. The Eagles’ magic number (read: the combined number of Eagles wins PLUS Cowboys losses) to clinch the NFC East is currently four. So, a Cowboys loss here drops that magic number to three.

For what it’s worth, the Lions are 3.5-point home favorites and haven’t lost back-to-back games all season long. We’ll see if they can keep it up or if the Cowboys will win their fourth straight game and keep the pressure on the Birds.

The Cowboys have won their last three games, including against the Eagles and Chiefs the last two weeks. Cowboys vs. Lions ‘Thursday Night Football’ live discussion

Is this perhaps a playoff elimination game in the NFC?

The Dallas Cowboys have won three in a row to get to 6-5-1 and still have a shot at the playoffs, whether through the Wild Card or the NFC East title. It’s a different story for the Detroit Lions, who might be 7-5 but are third behind the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, having been swept by the latter. Their return to the playoffs hinges heavily upon winning not just tonight’s game, but also next week against the Los Angeles Rams, as well as home versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and at the Chicago Bears. I’m not sure 10-7 is good enough for a playoff spot in the NFC, so Detroit’s room for error is minimal.

As noted earlier in the week, two Seattle Seahawks wins + two Lions losses and a Cowboys loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14 would be enough to see the Seahawks in the playoffs by the end of Week 15. Doesn’t seem likely but it’s something worth considering as a possibility.

Prime Video has you covered at 5:15 pm PT from Ford Field in Detroit. Enjoy!
