The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market: What’s the best deal for all 30 teams?

]

The deal: Cooper Flagg, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, Caleb Martin, Naji Marshall, and 2032 DAL first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Gary Harris, and Taurean Prince

The Bucks get the league’s most intriguing under-20 prospect, along with a group of role players who could, potentially, be moved individually down the line.

Dallas, obviously, adds Antetokounmpo to a core of Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, in the hopes of forming a ridiculously effective Big Three. It’s expensive, but it’d create much-needed buzz in Dallas.

Quality: A-

Likelihood: 2/5

The deal: Aaron Gordon, Cam Johnson, Jonas Valančiūnas, Peyton Watson, DaRon Holmes, Julian Strawther for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Taurean Prince, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

All right, so you might be wondering about the deal having no picks involved. Yes, that’s a problem for Denver seeing as it has no control of its future in that department. As such, the only real value here lies with Denver’s young players. Some are good, others are OK, and, ultimately, the Nuggets will have no chance of landing the Greek Freak. Sorry, Colorado!

Quality: C-

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Jaden Ivey, Tobias Harris, Ausar Thompson, Ron Holland, 2026 DET first, 2028 DET first and 2030 DET first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

Detroit is in possession of all of its draft picks, so it can actually make a decent push for the former Finals MVP. But it’ll cost the Pistons multiple selections, and multiple prospects, which won’t be an easy thing to fork over.

For the Bucks, needless to say, this is a package that offers them a chance of attacking a rebuilding process. Let’s not make it more complicated than it is.

Quality: A

Likelihood: 3/5

The deal: Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, 2026 GSW first, 2028 GSW first and a 2030 GSW first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

It’s a significant package the Warriors can send out, in large part due to the fact that they control their own future in terms of draft picks. Is it realistic? Probably not, but with the addition of two prospects in Kuminga and Podziemski, things at least get interesting.

Quality: B+

Likelihood: 3/5

The deal: Amen Thompson, Reed Sheppard, Fred VanVleet, Steven Adams, Tari Eason, 2027 PHX first and 2031 HOU first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Amir Coffey and Thanasis Antetokounmpo

This is a haul for Milwaukee, to the point where you can even argue if Houston is leaning in too heavily. On the other hand, it’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. Having him paired with Kevin Durant and Alperen Şengün would form the longest frontline in the league, which can only be a good thing for Houston’s championship equity.

Quality: A

Likelihood: 2/5

The deal: Pascal Siakam, Bennedict Mathurin, 2026 IND first, 2028 IND first and 2030 IND first for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

This deal is heavily based on draft equity, as that’s the primary type of asset the Pacers have.

For the Bucks, it’s a bit of a clean slate, and Siakam should be able to get moved elsewhere, presumably for more picks.

Quality: B+

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Kawhi Leonard, Kris Dunn and 2031 LAC first for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Nothing here makes sense. The Clips don’t have picks or young guys of note. While Leonard is awesome, he’s too old and makes no sense for Milwaukee.

Quality: F

Likelihood: 0/5

The deal: Technically, none.

LeBron James holds a player option, and his contract is frankly crucial in terms of salary-matching, so unless he’s willing to waive it to land in Milwaukee — and with respect to the fine state of Wisconsin, why would he? — this is a complete nonstarter.

Quality: N/A

Likelihood: 0/5

The deal: Ja Morant, Zach Edey, Cedric Coward, 2026 MEM first, 2028 MEM first, 2030 MEM first for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

This isn’t uninteresting for Milwaukee, as the Bucks get two young prospects and three picks, and can possibly rehab the trade value of Morant, only to flip him later. But there are just so many ifs in this scenario, which they will assuredly see as a negative.

Quality: B

Likelihood: 2/5

The deal: Andrew Wiggins, Norman Powell, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., 2030 MIA first and 2032 MIA first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

It’s a mixture of a return for Milwaukee, which gets younger, boosts its asset trove and can look ahead. There are, however, much more intriguing deals out there. So while this may make sense for Miami, it’s another situation for Milwaukee entirely.

Quality: B

Likelihood: 3/5

The deal: Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, Mike Conley, Rob Dillingham and Joan Beringer for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Amir Coffey, Taurean Prince and Jericho Sims

Yes, you read that right. No picks. That isn’t because Minnesota can offer enough to get away with it. Rather, the Wolves don’t have control of their selections, which greatly complicates matters.

Needless to say, Milwaukee will look at this offer and tell the Wolves that Anthony Edwards needs to be in play, or no deal. Honestly? That seems fair.

Quality: D

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Zion Williamson, Derik Queen, Jeremiah Fears, Kevon Looney, 2028 NOP first and 2030 NOP first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

It’s a bit of a moot point, because even if the Pelicans were able to acquire Antetokounmpo — which they won’t — who exactly are they going to pair him with?

For Milwaukee, this is mildly intriguing, but not enough to make it genuinely interested.

Quality: C+

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: OG Anunoby and Josh Hart for Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Knicks can’t send out picks, as that would violate the Stepien rule, and they don’t have much in the form of young players. It’s the franchise that Antetokounmpo was rumored to be interested in, but making a trade work that Milwaukee would accept is exceedingly difficult.

Quality: C-

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort, Cason Wallace, Thomas Sorber, Ajay Mitchell, 2026 LAC first, 2026 UTA first and 2027 DEN first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

The rich get richer, and Milwaukee gets a major influx of flexibility to aid its inevitable rebuild. If this feels unfair, it’s because it is. It’d be enormously fun, though.

Quality: A

Likelihood: 4/5

The deal: Franz Wagner, Jonathan Isaac, Anthony Black, Tristan Da Silva and 2031 ORL first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

There simply isn’t enough value here for Milwaukee to be even remotely interested, especially given that Orlando has very little draft equity left. Also, after Wagner’s injury in New York on Sunday, this makes even less sense.

Quality: D

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Paul George, VJ Edgecombe, Jared McCain, Trendon Watford, 2028 LAC first and 2031 PHI first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

No. Just no. The inclusion of either Joel Embiid or George is necessary, and that means the Sixers will have to relinquish picks in order to pay Milwaukee to take on those deals.

The fact that they’re getting Antetokounmpo on top of that is, frankly, laughable.

Quality: D

Likelihood: 0/5

The deal: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Khaman Maluach, Ryan Dunn, Oso Ighodaro for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, and Amir Coffey

With no draft pick flexibility whatsoever, the Suns can only make an offer based on their young players, and there isn’t a clear-cut future star in that group. This deal is DOA.

Quality: F

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Jerami Grant, Deni Avdija, Matisse Thybulle, Scoot Henderson, and all of Milwaukee’s picks and swaps back for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

This is all about future control, which is what Portland can offer. The Blazers give back Milwaukee their picks, which allows the Bucks to dictate their own terms. Make no mistake, this is a far more attractive offer for the Bucks than the vast majority of deals presented.

Quality: A

Likelihood: 4/5

The deal: Domantas Sabonis, Dennis Schröder, 2026 SAC first, 2028 SAC first and 2031 MIN first for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo

The Kings have control of many of their own selections, which is helpful. The inclusion of Sabonis is with the hope that the Bucks can pivot and move him in a new deal, fetching a solid return and thus double-dipping.

Quality: B-

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, Kelly Olynyk, Carter Bryant, 2027 ATL first, 2029 SAS first and 2031 SAC pick swap for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyle Kuzma, Amir Coffey and Thanasis Antetokounmpo

The Spurs do more than relinquish young talent and picks here — they also take on the contract of Kuzma, which is not considered attractive around the league. It’s a big pay for the Bucks, who reset their cap, regain draft equity and get three real future pieces in Castle, Vassell and Bryant.

Quality: A

Likelihood: 4/5

The deal: Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, Gradey Dick, Collin Murray-Boyles, 2026 TOR first and 2028 TOR first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

Toronto can go in more ways here, as it has control of its draft picks, but here the Raptors relinquish depth to maintain draft equity. If Milwaukee wants more future flexibility, as opposed to veterans, Toronto can accommodate.

Quality: A

Likelihood: 3/5

The deal: Lauri Markkanen, Ace Bailey, Brice Sensabaugh, 2026 LAL first, 2030 UTA first and 2032 UTA first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

This makes no sense, because where does Utah go from here? It works, and Milwaukee gets a solid package with future upside, plus whatever it can get for Markkanen, but this seems pointless.

Quality: B

Likelihood: 1/5

The deal: Khris Middleton, Alexandre Sarr, Tre Johnson, Kyshawn George, Cam Whitmore, 2030 WAS first and 2032 WAS first for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jericho Sims, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Amir Coffey

Wizards give up their future, more or less, for a former MVP who would have very little to do in Washington. It doesn’t make sense for them, but Milwaukee does replenish its cupboards.

Corinthians stunned by Bahia comeback in Brasileirão opener

Corinthians stunned by Bahia comeback in Brasileirão opener

Corinthians lost to Bahia in a comeback this Wednesday (28) in the opening round of the Brasileirão 2026.

Breno Bidon opened the scoring in the match held at Vila Belmiro.

But Jean Lucas and Willian José (penalty) turned the score around before halftime, giving the final numbers to the match.

Amidst the defeat, Corinthians’ fans sent a message to the team in the final minutes of the game, chanting “Sunday is war.”

The chant refers to the Supercopa do Brasil match against Flamengo.

The Game

Corinthians started the match well, creating good plays in the attacking field and took advantage of one of them to open the score.

Breno Bidon received a beautiful pass from Rodrigo Garro, went face to face with Ronaldo, and scored.

Yuri Alberto managed to find the net in what seemed to be the second goal of the game, but the play was disallowed for the forward’s offside.

Bahia began to take control of the match after half an hour and managed to turn the score around before halftime.

First, Jean Lucas equalized with a stunning first-time shot from the edge of the area.

Then Hugo Souza committed a penalty on Ademir, and Willian José converted the kick to make it 2-1.

After the break, Corinthians resumed control and dominated in terms of ball possession.

In a single play at 15 minutes into the second half, Timão made Ronaldo perform a great save face to face with Memphis and had Breno Bidon hitting the crossbar with a shot from outside the area.

But after that, Bahia defended well and didn’t face many scares to secure the three points.

Erik Spoelstra breaks the silence on Miami Heat trade rumors

Erik Spoelstra breaks the silence on Miami Heat trade rumors originally appeared on The Sporting News.

The Miami Heat enter Thursday night’s game against the Orlando Magic looking to earn their fourth win in their last five matchups.

They’ll also hope to get some revenge on their in-state rivals, as the Magic are 3-0 against the Heat this season, having already clinched the season series with two games remaining.

As the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaches, the Heat have been the subject of plenty of rumors, ranging from Ja Morant, to Giannis Antetokounmpo and even including Jonathan Kuminga.

With that in mind, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra addressed the rumors ahead of Thursday’s game saying: “We don’t really give it any time. The veteran players understand that so much of it is just conjecture, that it’s just a bunch of BS. But it is part of our business. That’s what we all sign up for.”

Miami has been linked to acquiring a star for a while now and given their place in the Eastern Conference standings (seventh), they could certainly use a boost to their lineup.

One of those veterans that Spoelstra mentioned is Andrew Wiggins, who has been linked heavily to both the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Either way, the Heat seem poised to make a big move before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

After Wednesday’s game against the Magic, the Heat will travel to Chicago and face the Bulls Thursday on the second night of a back-to-back.

Chiefs again urged to sign star RB for Patrick Mahomes

Chiefs again urged to sign star RB for Patrick Mahomes originally appeared on The Sporting News.

It appears that as the days go by, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ most urgent need this offseason is fixing the run game.

Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco are both free agents and are plodders, able to pick up tough yards. They aren’t home-run hitters.

For most, that has to change this offseason, whether it is via free agency or the draft, Patrick Mahomes needs a weapon who can scare defenses.

For PFF’s Bradley Locker, he thinks the Chiefs should go after New York Jets running back Breece Hall.

“The Chiefs currently own the least amount of cap space in the NFL, but they still have considerable work to do to address the offensive side of the ball,” Locker wrote. “The Chiefs reportedly tried to acquire Hall at the 2025 trade deadline, and they could bring their interest in the New York standout to fruition in March.”

More:Why Chiefs’ run game issues aren’t fixed with Bieniemy hire

Second time’s a charm for Chiefs and Hall?

Prior to the trade deadline passing in 2025, the Chiefs reportedly tried to trade for Hall, but talks fell apart due to the Chiefs not wanting to part ways with what the Jets wanted, which was a third-round pick.

Kansas City offered a fourth, and as such, the move didn’t happen.

Now, the Chiefs could get Hall for nothing, with his salary expected to be somewhere near the $10 million APY mark.

Would the Chiefs do that? Given the dire nature of their run game, you could make the case for it.

Hall behind Mahomes in 2026? Yeah, that’ll work.

Patriots’ Drake Maye adored Panthers legend Cam Newton, and the QB hates on New England star at every turn

Patriots’ Drake Maye adored Panthers legend Cam Newton, and the QB hates on New England star at every turn originally appeared on The Sporting News.
Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Drake Maye is a Charlotte, North Carolina kid. And he grew up there when Cam Newton was the star QB for the Carolina Panthers in that city.

These days, of course, Maye has grown into a superstar quarterback for the New England Patriots, now in his second season, preparing to play in the Super Bowl.

You would think that Newton would hype Maye up, right? One guy who starred in Charlotte at the pro level and another who made it happen at Myers Park High School in the suburbs outside Charlotte.

Well, you’d think wrong.

MORE: President Trump reveals feelings on Bill Belichick missing HOF

Newton has trashed Maye all year long.

This week, Newton compared Maye to Rex Grossman and Trent Dilfer.

In this context, that’s brutally insulting. Those guys were never in contention for an MVP award, and they certainly weren’t close to as talented as Maye is.

One Boston-area scribe, Chris Cotillo of MassLive, had this take on X:

“I’ve thought about this a lot. As they talked about on CBS the other day, Maye (as a kid) went to Cam’s Super Bowl appearance in SF. Never meet your heroes, kids.”

He’s right. The CBS broadcast legitimately talked about how the only Super Bowl that Maye had ever been to was in the same stadium he’s about to play in, when Newton made the big game.

Oh well. Maye will just have to keep proving Newton wrong.

Rick Pitino honored by St. John’s for reaching 900 career wins

NEW YORK (AP) — Rick Pitino was honored Wednesday night by St. John’s for reaching 900 wins as a Division I head coach.

Moments before the 25th-ranked Red Storm tipped off against Butler, a tribute to Pitino featuring a montage of the Hall of Famer’s highlights played on the large video screens that hang from the roof at Madison Square Garden.

St. John’s vice president and athletic director Ed Kull then presented Pitino with a framed jersey at center court.

The 73-year-old Pitino became the fourth Division I men’s basketball coach to earn 900 wins on the court when the Johnnies rallied Saturday from a 16-point deficit in the second half for an 88-83 victory at Xavier.

The others are Mike Krzyzewski (1,202), Jim Boeheim (1,116) and Roy Williams (903).

Pitino’s milestone win came against his son, Richard, the first-year coach of the Musketeers.

Pitino entered Wednesday night’s game 900-316 overall in 38 seasons, beginning with six games in an interim role at Hawaii in 1976. However, the NCAA credits Pitino with only 777 wins after stripping him of 123 because of infractions while he was the coach at Louisville.

Pitino also made stops at Boston University, Providence, Kentucky and Iona, sandwiched around NBA jobs with the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, plus a stint with Greek team Panathinaikos.

Now in his third season at St. John’s, the reigning AP national co-coach of the year has been to seven Final Fours and is the lone coach to take six schools to the NCAA Tournament.

St. John’s, ranked No. 5 in the preseason poll, returned to the AP Top 25 on Monday for the first time since mid-December following wins over Seton Hall and Xavier last week. In both games, the Red Storm trailed by at least 15 in the second half.

Houston Rockets jersey history No. 6 – Elmer Bennett (1996)

The Houston Rockets have had players donning a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one not part of any numerical series for Houston assistant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players in the course of Rockets history.

To honor all of the players who wore those numbers over the decades, Rockets Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who wore them since the founding of the team all those years ago right up to the present day.

With seven of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Rockets of all time to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.

And for today’s article, we will continue with the sixth of 15 players who wore the No. 6, guard alum Elmer Bennett. After ending his college career at Notre Dame, Bennett was picked up with the 38th overall selection of the 1992 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks.

The Evanston, Illinois native played the first two seasons of his pro career outside of the NBA after being cut before the start of his rookie season, playing in other leagues until he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1995. He also played for the Philadelphia 76ers before he signed with Houston in 1996. His stay with the team lasted until he was cut later that year.

During his time suiting up for the Rockets, Bennett wore only jersey No. 6 and put up 2.5 points and 1.0 assists per game.

Phinsider Question Of The Day: Do You Think They Got It Right This Time Edition

We have all been here before. For those of us like me who have been fans of the team longer than many of you have been alive, we have relived this whole scene more times than I can count since we saw the Miami Dolphins send the great Don Shula off into retirement. Jimmy Johnson was a solid hire following Shula, but his tenure did not last long enough, and ever since then, it’s mostly just been pain for us, the fans. More recently, it seems as if the people with all the power prefer the first-time head coach. I assumed that this time might be different, but I assumed wrong.

So tonight’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is:

Do you think that the ownership has finally got things right with their latest hire of Jeff Hafley, another first-time head coach, or do you think they again made the wrong choice and that we will just be right back here in the next four or five years? If you believe Hafley was the correct choice, why, and if not, which direction should this team have gone in?

Chicago Bears’ Offensive Player of the Year is Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears have named quarterback Caleb Williams their Offensive Player of the Year for the 2025 season. Williams had a great sophomore year from his growth as a young player, his first career playoff victory, and breaking franchise records. Overall, he took a big leap forward.

Williams finished the 2025 season with 3,942 passing yards, breaking the single-season franchise record, had a 27-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio, 5th in the NFL, and seven game-winning drives when trailing in the final two minutes (six in the regular season and one in the playoffs), which set an NFL record.

He led the Bears to their first NFC North division title since 2018 and first playoff victory since 2010.

Williams also started all 17 regular-season games for a second consecutive season. He’s the first quarterback to do so since Bob Avellini did it in 1976 and 1977.

And not to mention, Williams made some of the most extraordinary throws we’ve ever seen a Bears quarterback make. Here are just a few highlights:

Week 3 vs. Dallas:

Week 15 vs. Cleveland:

Week 16 vs. Green Bay:

Week 17 vs. San Francisco:

Wild Card Round vs. Green Bay:

NFC Divisional Round vs. Los Angeles:

In the Bears’ end of season press conference, head coach Ben Johnson reflected on Williams’ progress after their first season working together:

“The things that we highlighted for Caleb to start the season, I do think they improved as the season went along. We revamped the footwork a little bit last spring, and I think the comfort level grew from that. He certainly got more comfortable with the concepts that we were running over the course of the season. That’s something we can build upon.”

This recognition of Williams by the Bears encompasses the growth and talent Williams displayed this season, and he only scratched the surface.

“Yet, there’s still a lot more that we can push through,” Johnson said. “I’m really encouraged about the steps he [Williams] took this year. I’m Caleb Williams’ number one believer. I have a lot of faith in him, what he’s capable of doing, and the player that he’s still thriving to become.”

What growth are you expecting to see from Williams from year two to year three?

Tottenham to play one of Brugge, Galatasaray, Atletico, or Juventus in Champions League R16

Tottenham don’t know exactly which team they’ll play next in the Champions League, but they know it’ll be one of four potential options. Spurs punched their ticket to the Round of 16 with a bye after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 tonight in Germany, finishing fourth in the overall table and ensuring that they skip a two-legged playoff round. The draw for the playoffs will take place on Friday, January 30, but Spurs know that their opponent will come from one of four teams — Club Brugge, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, or Galatasaray.

The draw for the playoff rounds will determine who in that pod will play each other, and will set the brackets for the Round of 16. Spurs will play the winner of one matchup, while Liverpool will play the winner of the other one. Juventus and Atletico are both seeded teams in the playoffs so they can’t play each other, but they can draw either Galatasaray or Brugge. We’ll find out on Friday.

It’s actually a pretty decent draw, all things considered. Spurs would be considered slight favorites against either Brugge or Galatasaray, and probably slight underdogs against Atletico Madrid or Juventus. Spurs managed to avoid some of the big fish that landed in the playoff round, including PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan; I’m not a betting man but no matter how the playoffs turn out I’d say if Tottenham play well they’ve got a fighting chance to advance to the quarterfinals. It’s about as good as you can ask for.

The playoff rounds will take place Feb. 17/18 and Feb. 24/25, 2026, and the Round of 16 will take place on March 10/11 and 17/18, 2026.
