Igor Thiago celebrates Brazil call-up with goal in Brentford draw with Wolves

LONDON (AP) — Igor Thiago celebrated his first call-up to the Brazil squad by scoring Brentford’s second goal in a 2-2 thriller against Wolves in the Premier League on Monday.

Nearing halftime, the striker tapped into the empty net for his 19th league goal of the season.

A few minutes earlier, Michael Kayode’s glancing header put Brentford 1-0 up. It was his first goal in his 41st league appearance for the Bees.

Adam Armstrong pulled a goal back for Wolves a minute before halftime to round off a thrilling half.

Wolves, the league’s bottom side, equalized with 13 minutes left when Tolu Arokodare headed home at the back post.

The result extended Wolves’ unbeaten league run to three games but it remained bottom of the table, 12 points from safety.

“We know where we are in the league, it hasn’t been good enough,” Armstrong said, “but since I’ve come in it’s been very positive. The results have been changing. To get my first goal is nice but the main thing is to get the three points. We didn’t quite get that today but we’ll take the positives.”

Brentford stayed in seventh place, two points ahead of Everton but three behind Chelsea.

“We’re disappointed to have let the game slip,” Bees captain Jordan Henderson said.

Just hours before kickoff, Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti named Thiago in the squad for friendlies against France in Boston on March 26 and Croatia in Orlando four days later.

The former Cruzeiro, Ludogorets and Brugge striker was one of nine forwards included in a 26-man list that featured Endrick of Lyon, Rayan of Bournemouth, and João Pedro of Chelsea but no Neymar, who has underperformed recently at Santos.

He has excelled for Brentford this season and could have scored one or two more against Wolves. His 19-goal tally is the highest ever by a Brentford player in one Premier League season.

Two students die when boats capsize in Japan

Monday, March 16, 2026

On Monday, two boats carrying 21 people total capsized at Henoko Bay, Nago, a U.S. military base relocation site in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Officials said all of the passengers went into the water, and the captain of one of the boats and a female passenger perished. Additionally, two others were hurt; their injuries were not life threatening.

Rescuers aided people in the water. The Japanese Coast Guard (JCG) said 18 of those who were on the boats were classmates from a high school in Kyoto. The boats were named the Heiwa Maru and the Fukutsu, carrying ten and eight students onboard, respectively.

The JCG stated that the case is under investigation.

Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas suspended 80 games for PED use after failed appeal

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas was officially suspended 80 games without pay after testing for a banned performance-enhancing drug (PED), MLB announced. Rojas tested positive for Boldenone, an anabolic steroid, per the league.

Rojas’ failed test had been revealed earlier this month after the 25-year-old center fielder was removed from the Dominican Republic’s roster for the World Baseball Classic. Rojas reportedly attempted to appeal the result, but was unsuccessful.

Rojas’ suspension will begin at the start of the 2026 season, with the outfielder set to miss half of the season and is ineligible for the playoffs. Philadelphia opens its season at home against the Texas Rangers on March 26.

Rojas, 25, has spent his entire career with the Phillies organization, and made his major league debut in 2023. He played in 120 games in 2024, but was demoted to the minors partway through last season after a series of offensive struggles.

In 2025, Rojas recoded a .224 average and .569 OPS across 71 games for the Phillies, hitting one home run and stealing 12 bases. Prior to being sent down, Rojas largely occupied the bottom of the batting lineup.

In spring training, prior to his suspension, Rojas recorded a .167/.259/.467 slash line across 24 at-bats.

Rojas is not the only player facing a significant suspension this season: Earlier this month, Atlanta Braves designated hitter Jurickson Profar was hit with a 162-game suspension after his second PED offense.

All the Details on Target’s Answer to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale

Traditionally, spring hasn’t been a big online shopping season, comparatively speaking. Summer has Prime Day, fall has Prime Deal Days and Black Friday, and there are a bunch of holiday sales during winter. But that has been changing since Amazon’s launched its Big Spring Sale three years ago. And this year, as usual, Target is competing for your dollars with its own spring promotion: Circle Deal Days.

What is Circle Deal Days?

Circle Deal Days is Target’s name for its spring sale event this year. In previous years, Target held Circle Week, which lasted a whole week (like Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, which runs March 25–31). This year, it’s much shorter.

When is Circle Deal Days?

This upcoming Circle Deal Days will be from Wednesday, March 25, to Friday, March 27.

Do you need to be a Target Circle member to shop for Circle Deal Days?

You will need to be a Circle member to take part in the sale, but unlike a Prime membership, membership in Target Circle is free. You can sign up on the Target app or Target.com. If you are part of the paid membership tier, Target Circle 360, which starts at $10.99 per month, you’ll get early access beginning March 24. Target is also offering incentives for those who sign up for Circle or Circle 360 in the lead-up to the sale:

  • Join Target Circle between March 15 and 24 and get 15% off your first purchase.

  • Apply and get approved for a Target Circle credit card from March 15-27 and get $100 in Target Circle Rewards.

  • Sign up for Target Circle 360 March 15-27 will receive 50% off a one-year membership.

There are more details in Target’s press release.

What deals you can expect during Target Circle Deal Days

The sale is mainly focused on spring items, but sale categories will broadly include apparel, patio furniture, home essentials, beauty products, grocery items, toys, books, movies, and music. You can shop in person or online, and there will be a “Deal of the Day” for every day of the event.

Here are some examples of deals you might find, directly from Target’s press release:

  • Up to 50% off select toys from Barbie, Gigglescape, PAW Patrol and more

  • Up to 40% off women’s apparel including A New Day, Universal Thread and AVA & VIV

  • 40% off select skincare from BYOMA, Bubble Skincare, Good Molecules, Vacation, Carroten and more

  • 40% off select home, kitchen and dining, including Keurig, Cuisinart and Ninja

  • 40% off select floorcare, including Shark, Dyson, Bissell, Roborock and Sharper Image

More deals are available on the Circle Deal Days landing page.

What competing retailers are also hosting spring sales?

Amazon’s Big Spring Sale will take place Wednesday, March 25, through Tuesday, March 31. Walmart hasn’t confirmed its sale yet, while Best Buy’s Tech Fest is running now through Sunday, March 22.

Prime Video Is About to Take 4K Streaming Away From ‘Basic’ Users

Bad news, Prime subscribers: Starting April 10, Amazon will lock Prime Video streaming quality to 1080p for “basic” users. If you want to continue watching Prime Video content in 4K as you have been, you’ll need to pay an extra $4.99 per month. Otherwise, your Prime Video shows and movies will look just a bit fuzzier than you may be used to.

It’s part of a number of changes Amazon is making to its streaming services next month. On April 10, Amazon will start offering customers a new “Prime Video Ultra” plan. This option will be ad-free and will come with streaming up to 4K in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. You’ll also be able to stream up to five devices at once (as opposed to the current limit of three), as well as download as many as 100 titles (up from 25 on the basic plan).

That plan will cost an extra $4.99 on top of your Prime subscription, which currently runs for $14.99 a month. Amazon currently charges uses an extra $2.99 to access Prime Video without ads, so if you’re already paying for that privilege, you’ll “only” need to pay another $2 for Amazon’s Ultra perks—including the 4K access you already have.

If you choose to keep Amazon’s “basic” Prime Video package as part of your Prime subscription, you’ll still get some new perks, too. While you lose 4K streaming, you will get Dolby Vision (but no Dolby Atmos, though I imagine that won’t matter to the many viewers to watch Prime Video with their TV’s built-in speakers.) You’ll also gain one extra simultaneous stream (four, up from three), and be able to download up to 50 titles at once (again, up from the current 25).

New subscription features are always welcome, especially when they don’t come at an added cost. But taking away existing features and locking them behind a paywall isn’t welcome. Perhaps this will pay off for Amazon, and users will spend the extra money to watch their content in as high a resolution as possible. But even so, they’ll be spending more to access the same quality content they may already get for “free,” as part of their Prime subscription.

Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove expected to begin season on the injured list

San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove will have to wait a bit longer before returning to the mound.

After missing all of the 2025 season following Tommy John surgery, Musgrove will begin the 2026 campaign on the injured list, manager Craig Stammen told reporters Monday. Musgrove, 33, hasn’t pitched since March 4, 2025, and hasn’t thrown enough in spring training to be ready for the regular season.

“We’re getting to the point where he’s taken enough time off that it would be hard to ramp him up to get him to be a viable starter that can throw five innings, 90 pitches,” Stammen said.

“This was part of the plan, and we knew he was going to have to take some time off,” he continued. “We knew we were going to have to get him ready for the entire season and not just Opening Day.”

[Draft your Yahoo Fantasy Baseball team for the 2026 MLB Season]

Facing Great Britain in an exhibition before the World Baseball Classic, Musgrove threw 60 pitches in two innings of work. He pitched in a bullpen session four days later and was shut down afterward due to what was described as a “cranky” arm.

With only a week remaining on the Cactus League schedule, the Padres don’t have Musgrove in their projected Opening Day rotation. The right-hander was penciled in for the third spot on San Diego’s starting staff behind Nick Pivetta and Michael King, but Randy Vásquez will now move up to that slot. From there, the Padres will likely fill in the rotation with some of the arms they signed before spring training, including Griffin Canning, German Marquez and Walker Buehler.

King, 30, made only 15 starts last season due to nerve and knee injuries, so San Diego’s pitching depth could be tested early. JP Sears, Marco Gonzales and Triston McKenzie might figure into the mix in San Diego as well.

In 2024, Musgrove compiled a 3.88 ERA across 19 starts with 101 strikeouts in 99 2/3 innings. He pitched with a damaged ulnar collateral ligament in the postseason, throwing 41 pitches in 3 2/3 innings in a wild-card start against the Atlanta Braves.

USDA Further Advances Trump Administration Push to Unleash Critical American Mineral and Energy Dominance

(Washington, D.C., March 16, 2026) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service today completed the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and issued the final record of decision for the Resolution Copper Project. The decision is now available on the agency’s project page. This is another important project in advancing President Trump’s goal of mineral independence and energy dominance by boosting domestic mineral production.

Use wall art that doubles as storage cabinetry

If every room in your house is littered with small items that don’t have a permanent home and you don’t have any space for extra storage units or bulky open shelving, your walls might still offer a solution: wall art that also serves as shallow cabinetry. You can find framed art like this that doubles as a cabinet for storing jewelry, keys, documents, or any other small items that can clutter your home.

Add some shelves that have drawers

Adding some floating shelves to your walls is an obvious answer to your storage problems, sure, but if they’re just shelves, you’re missing a double-whammy opportunity. Choosing floating shelves that also offer drawers means you get twice the storage power in a single unit.

Transform a bookcase into a closet

Closet space is a crucial part of every home’s storage system. If you need closet space but are out of luck, you can create a shallow closet from a bookcase. All you need is a bookcase that fits your space, closet rod hardware, and some reinforcing lumber if necessary (this depends on how sturdy your bookcase is. Remove the shelves you don’t want from the upper or lower part of the bookcase, install your hanging rod, and move all those extra clothes, shoes, and other items into place.

Add a hinged countertop extension as a prep or dining area in the kitchen

An indirect way to increase your kitchen storage is to add a hinged countertop extension like this. The extension can be used as extra prep space or as a quick dining area, and having it will allow you to keep more appliances and storage jars or baskets on the rest of your countertops without having to constantly move them out of the way when you work or eat.

Use bed risers and under-bed storage containers to reclaim lost storage space

If you’ve run out of ideas for where to stash all your stuff, sometimes the trick is to create some extra vertical space by lifting your bed. A set of simple bed risers combined with easy-access rolling containers like these will give you a huge amount of storage.

Install a shelf over doorways and windows

One of the most overlooked places for storage is over doorways and windows, areas that are usually just dead space. If you’ve got enough vertical wall space over a door, a simple floating shelf can create a spot for books or other items.

Replace your bed’s headboard with one that offers storage

A headboard on your bed doesn’t have to be purely decorative, and the wall your bed is pushed up against doesn’t have to be wasted space. Buy a headboard with storage built in and you can stash away all the stuff that’s sitting on top of your tables, dressers, and the floor. As a bonus, you can find these with charging ports, so you’ll never have to worry about missing an alarm again.

Add a rolling pantry to your kitchen

No matter how big your kitchen is, you’ll always wind up with stuff cluttering your countertops, or jammed up on top of your wall cabinets. But you can take advantage of another quirk found in many kitchens: that narrow gap between your lower cabinets and the appliances that seems to exist only to collect dust and crumbs. A narrow rolling pantry cart can get you the extra storage you need while eliminating that weird gap, a twofer win.

Use space-saving hangers in your closets

You can get a lot more out of your closets with space-saving hangers like these, which allow you to hang five garments on one hanger—basically making every closet five times larger.

Add pedestal storage under your washer and dryer

The key to finding more storage in your house is looking for the hidden dead space you’re overlooking. One of the most common spots we miss is under the washer and dryer in our laundry area. Adding a pedestal with a drawer under each appliance turns a slice of vertical space into valuable storage.
