Washington Wizards star Trae Young left their matchup with the Golden State Warriors early on Monday night due to a leg injury.

Young collided with Warriors guard Will Richard while trying to get through a screen midway through the third quarter at Capital One Arena, and was called for an offensive foul after knocking Richard down. Young immediately started limping as officials called the foul, clearly shaken up.

He remained on the floor for one more play, still in noticeable pain, before he was finally taken out of the game. He limped off the court, went back to the locker room and did not return.

The Wizards quickly ruled Young out with what they called a right quad contusion. Further specifics of his injury are not yet known.

Young finished the night with a team-high 21 points after he went 7-of-10 from the field. He had five assists and two rebounds, too. Monday night was just Young’s fourth game with the Wizards. He made his debut with the team earlier this month after being dealt there from the Atlanta Hawks ahead of the deadline.

Former Steelers WR Calvin Austin sends heartfelt farewell to fans

Calvin Austin III officially left the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency following his decision to join the John Harbaugh-led New York Giants — but not without a proper farewell to the Black and Gold faithful.

In a short video posted to TikTok on Monday, Austin showed love to Steelers Nation as he thanked the fan base for support following the news of the Giants’ signing.

“I’m going to lie, being in Pittsburgh, I definitely knew and felt the love from the people in the city,” Austin said. “Whether that was being in the city, training camp, whatever, people know that Pittsburgh fans are passionate. I knew I was going to get a warm reception, but that — I was not expecting that. Ya’ll showed out. Thank you. You know what I’m saying? From me to ya’ll, I love you guys.”

Austin continued that he didn’t know how to react after hearing all the support from Steelers fans and that it almost made him emotional.

We at Steelers Wire wish Austin nothing but the best as he heads to New York to play a big role in the Giants’ offense, potentially setting himself up for a breakout year with former rookie sensation Jaxson Dart under center.

Shohei Ohtani returns to Dodgers after WBC, expected to pitch once before spring training ends

Shohei Ohtani returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ spring training camp in Glendale, Arizona following Samurai Japan’s loss to Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic semifinals on Saturday.

Japan was expected to advance to the WBC final, if not win its second consecutive tournament championship, so Ohtani and pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto are back with the Dodgers a bit sooner than anticipated.

Ohtani’s earlier return means that he will likely make one pitching appearance for the Dodgers during their seven remaining games in Cactus League play.

Manager Dave Roberts didn’t say when Ohtani could pitch. Had Japan made it all the way through the WBC, the hope was that Ohtani would have been able to pitch in the three-game “Freeway Series” versus the Los Angeles Angels that ends the preseason slate.

Now, however, he may pitch while the Dodgers are still in Arizona. Ohtani will likely throw a bullpen session first. But the team hopes the two-way star will be stretched out enough to pitch three to four innings when he takes the mound.

Ohtani threw bullpen sessions while with Japan during the WBC. However, he did not pitch in any games while maintaining caution while preparing for his first full season as a two-way player for the Dodgers since undergoing elbow surgery in September 2023.

Last Thursday, Ohtani threw four simulated innings facing live hitters during batting practice. During the outing, he threw 59 pitches, faced 18 hitters and had seven strikeouts.

The Dodgers’ intention is for Ohtani to be in their Opening Day starting rotation. That could be especially important with Blake Snell not expected to be ready when the regular season begins.

World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto was announced as the Dodgers’ Opening Day starter, as expected. Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki and Ohtani will likely follow in the rotation with Gavin Stone, Emmet Sheehan and Justin Wrobleski also expected to make starts early in the season. Top pitching prospect River Ryan will also be considered.

Rockets center Alperen Sengun remains sidelined with back pain

HOUSTON — Though he was at least a partial participant in Monday’s shootaround, the Rockets were again without All-Star center Alperen Sengun (low back pain) for their home matchup versus the Lakers.

It’s the second consecutive game that Sengun has missed with that designation. With their Turkish big man sidelined, the Rockets defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.

Monday’s Rockets-Lakers game is an important one in the Western Conference playoff race, as Los Angeles and Houston entered tied in the loss column (42-25 and 41-25) in the tightly packed standings. Those are the third-fewest losses among all West teams.

With per-game averages of 20.2 points (50.3% FG), 8.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game, Sengun is enjoying another strong statistical season. So, in a perfect world, the Rockets would certainly prefer to have him available.

But tracking data suggests that his defense has slipped relative to last season, and it’s conceivable that physical ailments could be at least part of the explanation. With that in mind, it seems the Rockets are trying to give the 23-year-old at least a few days off to try and get right.

With Sengun sidelined, head coach Ime Udoka chose to start backup center Clint Capela alongside the usual quartet of Kevin Durant, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., and Tari Eason.

At least initially, that puts Capela in line to play against Lakers big man Deandre Ayton. It’s the first time those two have faced off since a series of subtle (and not so subtle) digs in February.

Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m. Central from Toyota Center, with the game televised and streamed regionally on Space City Home Network and nationally via Peacock and NBC Sports Network. Houston is an impressive 23-8 in home games this season.

The Rockets and Lakers will meet again at the same time on Wednesday, also from Houston. It remains to be seen if Sengun will be available for the rematch.

Alabama high school football HOF coach returns for 2026 season

An Alabama high school football coaching legend will be returning to the sidelines this 2026 season, according to a AL.com report on Monday.

Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame member, three-time state champion head coach Brent Hubbert will replace Brad Abbott, who is retiring after coaching for 30 years, per the report.

“I needed something to do,” Hubbert said via the AL.com report. “The opportunity presented itself and, as a family, we decided, ‘Let’s go ahead and do it.’ My wife was born and raised here. My boys grew up here minus the six years we were in Brewton. It’s home.”

We’ve got a good group returning. Coach Abbott has done such a good job with this program. For me, it’s really about just coming in and not losing the keys. We have one of the bigger senior classes that I can remember coming up. I think 15 or 16. That’s big in 1A football. In the junior class, we probably have a dozen football players. It’s a good group.”

Hubbert has been a head coach in the state of Alabama spanning 24 total seasons, compiling an overall record of 241-59 and won three straight state championships (2014-2016) during his first stint at Maplesville.

The Red Devils is coming off an undefeated 15-0 season, winning the AHSAA Class 1A state title, finishing ranked No. 76 in the state, according to the final 2025 Alabama High School Football Massey Rankings.

Whiny Chris Curtis reacts to boring UFC Vegas 114 decision loss – ‘Fun as a wet fart in church’

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MARCH 14: (L-R) Myktybek Orolbai of Kyrgyzstan battles Chris Curtis in a welterweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at Meta APEX on March 14, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC)

There was no action for “The Action Man.”

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight-turned Welterweight Chris Curtis suffered a lackluster unanimous decision loss to top prospect Myktybek Orolbai at UFC Vegas 114 this past weekend (Sat., March 14, 2026) inside the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On paper, the matchup looked like it would produce fireworks. Both fighters are known as finishers and creative strikers, but the bout quickly turned into a grappling-heavy affair.

Orolbai repeatedly grounded Curtis throughout the fight, racking up 19 takedowns, which now ranks as the third-most takedowns landed in a single fight in UFC history and most in Welterweight history.

Following the loss, Curtis took to Facebook to share his frustration with the performance.

“Well, that was as fun as a wet fart in church. Sorry guys,” Curtis wrote. “Physical therapy went well. My knee held up. I had a great camp. No excuses. Just a shit night and a shit fight. Man had really good grip strength, and it’s incredibly hard to fight a man who has no intention of being in a fight. Got some thinking to do and some stuff to figure out. But I walked out with no Physical damage at all, just my pride really hurt. Thanks for the love and support. We’ll see where we go from here. #Notdeadyet.”

Curtis’ blunt reaction is fairly typical for the outspoken veteran, who has never been shy about expressing his frustration (and saltiness) following fights.

The defeat drops Curtis (32-13) to 1-1 since moving down to Welterweight after spending most of his UFC run competing at Middleweight. After starting his UFC career with a perfect 3-0 record — including two knockout wins — the 38-year-old is now just 3-5-1 in his last nine bouts, with notable losses to Roman Kopylov and Brendan Allen in their rematch.

Houston Rockets jersey history No. 9 – Mason Jones (2020-21)

The Houston Rockets have had players donning a total of 52 different jersey numbers (and have one not part of any numerical series for Houston assistant coach and general manager Carroll Dawson) since their founding at the start of the 1967-68 season, worn by just under 500 players in the course of Rockets history.

To honor all of the players who wore those numbers over the decades, Rockets Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who wore them since the founding of the team all those years ago right up to the present day.

With seven of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Rockets of all time to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.

And for today’s article, we will continue with the 18th of 20 who wore the No. 9, guard alum Mason Jones. After ending his college career at Arkansas, Jones went unselected in the 2020 NBA Draft, signing with the Houston Rockets instead.

The Dallas, Texas native played the first 26 games of his pro career with Houston, coming to an end when he was cut that spring.

During his time suiting up for the Rockets, Jones wore only jersey No. 9 and put up 5.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
