Barcelona sporting director Deco spoke briefly about Joao Cancelo and Marcus Rashford after Sunday’s win over Sevilla in La Liga at Camp Nou.

Cancelo impressed in the game as he won two penalties and scored, and Deco spoke about why the club were so determind to sign him in the winter.

“We have made efforts to sign Cancelo because he has shown time and time again that he’s a crazy Barca fan,” he told reporters. “That is a rare feeling nowadays in players, and we are trying to bring it back.”

Deco also spoke about Marcus Rashford’s future at the club. There’s been speculation already that Barca have agreed to activate his purchase option, but Deco says nothing has been finalised.

“We have a clear vision regarding Rashford, and we know what needed to be done for him to stay. But the matter is related to Financial Fair Play, priorities, performance, and evaluation with the coach,” he said.

“It’s something we haven’t done yet because it’s not the right time.”

Rashford didn’t feature against Sevilla but will be hoping for some game time on Wednesday against Newcastle in the Champions League.

Bavarian Loan Works: Bayern Munich loanees represent in Europe

Stuttgart, Germany – March 12: goalkeeper Alexander Nübel of VfB Stuttgart and Pepe of FC Porto battle for the ball during the UEFA Europa League 2025/26 Round of 16 First Leg match between VfB Stuttgart and FC Porto at Stuttgart Arena on March 12, 2026 in Stuttgart, Germany. (Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images) | DeFodi Images via Getty Images

Bayern Munich loanees had another busy week with a lot of loanees playing in Europe midweek. We also saw a couple loanees come back from injury, some still missing time, and a couple new injuries coming up. See how each loanee performed this week and where the teams in Europe stand going into the second leg this week.

FC Bayern Munich

There are 11 players from on loan from the first team.

Germany – Bundesliga

There are three players from the first team on loan to the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Arijon Ibrahimović, and Armando Sieb.

Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart

Nübel started for Stuttgart at home against FC Porto in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16. He allowed two early goals — including one goal that was deemed to be his error that led to it — in the first half to put his team down 2-0, but kept the guests off the board for the rest of the match. He had four saves on the day. Stuttgart cut the lead to one by halftime and thought they had an equalizer in the 70th, but it was taken back by VAR. They fell 2-1 with a trip to Portugal coming up next week.

In Bundesliga play, Stuttgart hosted RB Leipzig on Sunday. Nübel started again and had a much better match. He again recorded four saves and shut Leipzig out for the whole match — earning the highest ranking of either team. A first half goal by Stuttgart was the only goal in the match and led to the 1-0 home win for Stuttgart.

Stuttgart will have the return leg on Thursday against FC Porto in Portugal. They will travel to face FC Augsburg in league play on Sunday.

Arijon Ibrahimović – 1. FC Heidenheim

Ibrahimović started for Heidenheim on the road against Eintracht Frankfurt. He did not have a very productive match, recording very few stats in his 63 minutes on the pitch — no shots, no chances created, and only nine passes attempted. He was subbed off due to an injury with his team down 1-0. Heidenheim could not find an equalizer — despite being up a man for the last 15 minutes — and fell 1-0.

Heidenheim host Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. We will monitor Ibrahimović’s injury status.

Armindo Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05

Mainz travelled to Czechia to face Sigma Olomouc in the first leg of the Conference League. Sieb started on the bench and came into the match in the 82nd minute with the match level at 0-0. He had just six touches and could not influence the match. The final score ended in a scoreless draw.

Mainz also travelled to face Werder Bremen on Sunday. Sieb was on the bench but did not make it into the match, as Mainz won 2-0.

Mainz host the second leg against Sigma Olomouc on Thursday. They will also host Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

England – Premier League

There are two players on loan to the English Premier League: João Palhinha and Jonah Kusi-Asare.

João Palhinha – Tottenham

Palhinha was on the bench for the disastrous start to Spurs’ Champions Leg match against Atletico Madrid in Spain. He entered the match in the 68th minute with his team down 5-1. He did not have a shot attempt nor did he create any chances for his teammates to shoot. He completed 89% of his passes and saw his team pull back one more consolation goal before the end of the match. Spurs fell 5-2 with a big hill to climb in the second leg.

Palhinha missed Tottenham’s 1-1 draw away to Liverpool. He was listed on the injury report with a concussion.

Spurs will host Atletico for the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday. They will also host Nottingham Forrest on Sunday in a pivotal league match against their direct competition for relegation and safety.

Jonah Kusi-Asare – Fulham

Kusi-Asare was not on the matchday squad for Fulham’s 0-0 draw away to Nottingham Forrest.

Fulham will host Burnley on Saturday.

England – Championship

Daniel Peretz is the only player on loan to England’s Championship.

Daniel Peretz – Southampton

Peretz started for Southampton on Wednesday away to West Bromwich Albion. He came up big with five saves on the day but allowed one goal shortly before halftime. Luckily his teammates found a late equalizer in second half stoppage time. The match ended 1-1.

Southampton hosted league leaders Coventry City in league play on Sunday. Peretz had another great match in goal. He kept a shutout through 90 minutes and took a 2-0 lead into stoppage time. The guests drew a penalty — which Peretz apparently did not agree with, receiving a yellow descent. He conceded the goal to make it 2-1 but recorded two more saves to secure the home win.

Southampton host two more league matches this week: on Wednesday against Norwich and Saturday against Oxford United.

Italy – Serie A

Bryan Zaragoza is the only player on loan to Serie A.

Bryan Zaragoza – AS Roma

Zaragoza started for Roma away to Bologna in the Europa League Round of 16. He had just 17 touches in the first half and had one shot attempt — off target — and created zero chances for his teammates to shoot. He was subbed out at halftime with the score still level at 0-0. Both teams scored in the second half and the match ended 1-1.

Zaragoza was on the bench for Roma’s 2-1 away loss against Como but did not make it onto the pitch.

Roma hosts Bologna in the second leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday. They will also host Lecce in league play on Monday.

Türkiye – Super Lig

Sacha Boey is the only player on loan to the Turkish Super Lig.

Sacha Boey – Galatasaray

Boey started on the bench for Galatasaray in the Champions League match at home against Liverpool. He came into the match in the 87th minute and had just one touch — a headed clearance. Galatasaray held onto a seventh minute goal that gave them a first leg win, 1-0.

Boey was again on the bench for Galatasaray’s league at home match against Başakşehir. He came into the match in the 74th minute with his team up 2-0. He did not have shot attempt nor did he create a chance for his teammates to shoot but he completed an impressive 100% of his 17 passes. Galatasaray would add one more late goal on the way to a 3-0 win.

Galatasaray will travel to England to face Liverpool in the second leg of their Champions League tie on Wednesday. They will also be away to Trabzonspor on Sunday.

Switzerland – Super League

Lovro Zvonarek is the only player on loan from the first team to the Swiss Super League.

Lovro Zvonarek – Grasshopper

Zvonarek continues to miss time with Grasshopper with his broken finger. Grasshopper fell 5-1 this week against league leaders Thun.

Grasshopper will be away to Servette on Saturday.

Germany – 2. Bundesliga

There are two players from the first team on loan to the 2. Bundesliga: Maurice Krattenmacher and Tarek Buchman.

Maurice Krattenmacher – Hertha BSC

Krattenmacher made his return from injury with a bench appearance for Hertha’s home match against Bochum. He came off the bench in the 77th minute with his team up 1-0. His first action in the match was a very nice overlapping run that turned into a cross into the box, but unfortunately his teammates fluffed a chance at a shot. He did not have any other contributions and unfortunately saw Bochum net a stoppage time equalizer. The match ended 1-1.

Hertha will travel to face Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday.

Tarek Buchman – 1. FC Nürnberg

Buchman returned to the starting lineup for Nürnberg away to Holstein Kiel. He had one shot — on goal from a corner. He contributed most on defense with a tackle, two blocked shots, five clearances, one interception, and three recoveries. He received a yellow card for a bad foul in the 83rd minute and was subbed off three minutes later for a fellow Bayern loanee. Nürnberg held onto a narrow 3-2 away win.

Nürnberg will host 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday.

FC Bayern Munich II

There are 15 players on loan from the second team.

Germany – Bundesliga

Felipe Chávez is the only player on loan from the second team to a Bundesliga team.

Felipe Chávez – 1. FC Köln

Chávez was on the bench for Köln’s away match against Hamburg with the score level at 1-1. He came on the bench in the 84th minute and had just five touches, including a couple defensive touches and two successful passes. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Köln will host Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

Germany – 2. Bundesliga

There are four players on loan from the second team in the 2. Bundesliga: Noel Aseko, Javier Fernández, Grayson Dettoni, and Paul Scholl.

Noel Aseko – Hannover 96

Aseko started for Hannover on the road against Schalke and played the full 90 minutes. Hannover was down 2-0 at halftime but came back after Schalke went down to 10 men early in the second half. Aseko created a “big chance” for his teammates to shoot and completed 89% of his passes. He also drew a penalty, which his teammate missed, but the rebound was scored to open the scoring. Hannover also scored a stoppage time equalizer to earn a 2-2 draw against the league leaders.

Hannover will host Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday.

Javier Fernández– 1. FC Nürnberg

Fernández started on the bench and subbed in for Buchman in the 86th minute with his team up 3-2. He had just five touches but made the most of them with a tackle, two clearances, and a recovery. Fernández was able to help his team win 3-2.

Nürnberg will host 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday.

Grayson Dettoni – SV Darmstadt 98

Dettoni was on the bench for Darmstadt’s 1-1 draw away to Magdeburg but did not make it onto the pitch.

Darmstadt will host Schalke 04 on Saturday in a top two showdown.

Karlsruhe will host Greuther Fürth on Friday.

Germany – 3. Liga

Max Schmitt is the only player on loan in the 3. Liga.

Max Schmitt – SSV Ulm 1846

Schmitt started for Ulm at home against Ingolstadt. He faced four shots on goal and conceded goals on three of them. His team only supported him with one goal and they fell 3-1 at home.

Germany – Regionalliga

There are two players on loan in the Regionalliga Südwest: Benedikt Wimmer and David Emmanuel and three players on loan to the Regionalliga Bayern: Gibson Adu, Richard Meier, and Jason Eckl.

Benedikt Wimmer – SV Sandhausen

Wimmer was on the bench for Sandhausen’s insane match in their local Pokal match against fifth-division Manheim. Sandhausen was up 1-0 at halftime and received a second half red card. The match went into extra time where they went down to 9 men and needed a goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time to force penalties. Manheim scored all five goals and Sandhausen only scored four to crash out of the competition at home.

Wimmer started on the bench again for Sandhausen against TSG Balingen in league play. He entered the match at halftime with his team up 1-0. He could not help his team keep a shutout, but his teammates were able to find a winner in the 89th minute to win away 2-1.

Sandhausen will host Eintracht-Trier on Saturday.

David Emmanuel – Hessen Kassel

Emmanuel was not on the matchday squad for Kassel’s 2-1 win against Schott Mainz.

Maximillian Hennig – TSV Hartberg

Hennig started and played the full 90 minutes away to LASK. He completed 100% of his passes, had one shot attempt — blocked — and created one chance for his teammates to shoot. On defense he helped his team keep a shutout with two clearances and two recoveries. Hartberg were unable to score, but earned a scoreless draw on the road.

Hartberg will host Austria Wien on Sunday.

Jussef Nasrawe – SV Ried

Italy – Serie D

Magnus Dalpiaz is the only player on loan to Italy’s Serie D.

Magnus Dalpiaz – Milan Futuro

FC Bayern Munich Frauen

There is one player on loan from the women’s team.

Brazil – Brasileirão Feminino

Ana Guzmán is the only player on loan to Brazil’s Brasileirão Feminino.

Ana Guzmán – SE Palmerias

March Madness tips off with First Four in Dayton, with Miami (Ohio) in the field and close to home

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — March Madness tips off with the First Four, featuring one of this season’s best stories in Miami (Ohio) and a matchup of formerly embattled head coaches in Texas’ Sean Miller and NC State’s Will Wade.

Coming off their only loss of the season, the RedHawks have a chance to silence some skeptics against fellow No. 11 seed SMU (20-13) on Wednesday night. The RedHawks, who are back in the tournament for the first time since 2007, were rewarded with a game in Dayton, roughly 43 miles from campus.

“It’s going to be a great environment,” RedHawks coach Travis Steele said. “Hopefully the RedHawk nation will be showing up there on Wednesday night to support us. I’m sure they will (and) it will be a home game for us.”

There are two games Tuesday night to open the tournament.

Despite a 31-1 record, Miami wasn’t assured of a bid due to its schedule ranking 339th nationally with no Quadrant 1 opponents. After recording just the eighth unbeaten regular season in the past 50 years. Miami lost to UMass in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament, putting their tournament hopes in jeopardy.

“I was very confident,” forward Eian Elmer said. “I think it’s hard to leave a team that’s 31-0 in a regular season out. It just wouldn’t look right for the sport, diminishing something like that, something that’s very rarely done.”

The winner will face No. 6 seed Tennessee in Philadelphia.

Miller vs. Wade

Texas received a No. 11 seed after losing to Mississippi in the first round of the SEC Tournament. The Longhorns (18-14) will face No. 11 seed NC State (20-13) in Tuesday’s nightcap. The winner will face No. 6 seed BYU in Portland.

Several years have past and they’ve switched jobs a few times, but Miller and Wade are still remembered as key figures in the 2017-19 FBI investigation into NCAA recruiting and corruption. Neither received any serious sanctions after a judge ruled they weren’t required to testify.

Miller was fired at Arizona in 2021, then returned for his second stint at Xavier. Wade, meanwhile, was let go by LSU before leading McNeese State to consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. NC State lost to Virginia in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.

“We didn’t finish the season as strongly as we would like,” Wade said. “We put ourselves in this position. We’re excited to be in the tournament. We’re excited to be in Dayton. It’s a great basketball city, great basketball fans, great basketball arena, everything.”

Miller returns to University of Dayton Arena, where he led Xavier to an 86-80 victory over Texas in last year’s First Four before agreeing to a six-year, $32 million contract to become the Longhorns coach five days later.

Like home

Longhorns guard Dailyn Swain, a Xavier transfer and Columbus, Ohio native, is expecting a large contingent of friends and family at UD Arena, where he played several times in high school.

Swain scored 11 points for the Musketeers in last year’s First Four win over the Longhorns before following Miller to Texas.

“My first few days at Texas, I kind of joked with (teammates) about how we beat them,” Swain said. “I never let them forget. It’s definitely a funny feeling, but like I said, I think it’ll be a better result for the Longhorns this time.”

Shoe still fit?

UMBC is back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018, when the Retrievers shocked Virginia to become the first No. 16 seed to beat a No. 1. This is UMBC’s third NCAA Tournament appearance, and first in the First Four.

“We’re really excited to be back,” said Jim Ferry, in his fifth season as UMBC coach. “This is a special group. We haven’t had a bad day all year. Been a pleasure to coach these guys.”

The Retrievers (24-8) will face Howard in Tuesday night’s first game. The Bison (23-10) are making their second appearance in the First Four in three years. They lost to Wagner 71-68 in 2024.

“We’re coming here to get a different result than last time,” said MEAC player of the year Bryce Harris. “I’m excited to see how we perform on one of the biggest stages.”

The winner gets No. 1 seed Michigan on Thursday in Buffalo.

Sweet Sixteens

SWAC champion Prairie View A&M will face Patriot League champ Lehigh in a matchup of No. 16 seeds in Wednesday’s first game. Lehigh (18-16) is making its sixth tournament appearance while Prairie View (18-17) is making its third. The winner will face top-seeded Florida in Tampa.

A’s Shutout the Angels 3-0

MESA, AZ – MARCH 03: Mark Leiter Jr. #38 of the Athletics pitches during the game between the Team Brazil and the Athletics at Hohokam Stadium on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in Mesa, Arizona. (Photo by Tom Wilson/MLB Photos via Getty Images) | MLB Photos via Getty Images

The Athletics put forth arguably their best pitching performance yet this spring, shutting out the Los Angeles Angels 3-0. This afternoon marked the first time the team kept its opponent off the scoreboard in this year’s Cactus League.

A’s left-hander Jeffrey Springs put together his best performance and now seems ready for the season to start. He threw 84 pitches over 4 2/3 scoreless innings, only allowing three hits while striking out four. Springs found himself in trouble early as the Angels loaded the bases with two outs in the first inning on two hits and a walk. He escaped that jam by getting Angels’ catcher Logan O’Hoppe to fly out to left. Following that early scare, it was mostly smooth sailing for Springs until he was removed for reliever Nick Anderson after allowing Mike Trout’s fourth double of the spring with two outs in the fifth inning.

Returning to the first inning, buoyed by the Angels leaving the bases loaded, the A’s offense struck first against Los Angeles pitcher George Klassen. Following Nick Kurtz getting hit by a pitch and a Shea Langeliers single, Tyler Soderstrom grounded into a double play, which nearly killed the rally. Fortunately, Brent Rooker hit a two-out RBI single to score Kurtz who had moved to third base on the previous play. Rooker stole second base and then scored on Jacob Wilson’s single to right field.

Klassen and the three Angels relievers did a good job of subduing what was a red-hot A’s offense. The A’s finished the game with only four hits. Their only other run came courtesy of Max Muncy’s fourth Cactus League home run, a solo shot to right field in the fourth inning.

Out of all of the team’s candidates to play third base, Muncy seems to have the most offensive upside and has been getting the most playing time at the position, which suggests he will likely start there Opening Day in Toronto. Muncy has the offensive ability to further strengthen an already stellar lineup, although he will hopefully not make too many crippling defensive errors if given the chance to play third base daily.

With the team up 3-0, it was down to the A’s relievers to protect their team’s slim lead. Right-handers Nick Anderson, Mark Leiter Jr., Michael Kelly and A.J. Causey did their job and more, combining to keep the Angels from inching closer.

Anderson, who curiously was not reassigned alongside fellow non-roster invitees Wander Suero and Nick Hernandez, got the last out of the fifth inning and then worked around allowing a leadoff double the next inning. Free-agent acquisition Leiter Jr. will likely pitch in many high-stress, late-game moments this season for the A’s. This afternoon, he worked his way out of a first-and-third, one-out situation in the seventh inning, striking out Mike Trout for the second out and then getting the next Angels hitter to ground out to end the inning.

Kelly also worked out of trouble the next inning and then Causey, who has a shot to make his MLB debut this year, slammed the door in the ninth, collecting his first save in an A’s uniform.

All spring, the A’s have been winning games by simply outscoring their opponents, so today it was nice to see the team win thanks to strong pitching and defense. Speaking of defense, Zack Gelof caught every ball hit his way in right field. If anyone was at the game, how does he look in the outfield and is it a realistic possibility to see him out there in the regular season? Share in the comment section below.

Here’s how the box score looked today:

The Athletics will try to make it two wins in a row tomorrow as they travel to Glendale, Arizona to play the Chicago White Sox. Luis Morales will start for the A’s, looking to build on his solid performance in his last outing and cement his spot as one of the A’s five starting pitchers in their season-opening rotation. At the moment, the White Sox have yet to list their scheduled starter for that Cactus League matchup between two teams looking to take a step forward this season.

Dodgers throwing the last pitch, then the first pitch

(Original Caption) 6/6/1964-Philadelphia, PA: King of the Mount Sandy Koufax of the Los Angeles Dodgers knocks off the last of the Phillies’ batters during the game here 6/6. In addition to downing the Philadelphia team 3-0, Koufax scored the third no-hitter of his career.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Monday was officially named the opening day starter for the Dodgers, with the right-hander set to take the mound on Thursday, March 26 against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.

That puts Yamamoto in rare air, considering he also threw the last pitch for the Dodgers in 2025, getting the final eight outs in Game 7 of the World Series, the day afterthrowing 96 pitches in six innings in Game 6. In case you forgot how that ended, Yamamoto won Game 6 and Game 7, and the Dodgers won a second straight World Series, with the star Japanese right-hander at the center of it all.

Yamamoto next week will join Sandy Koufax as the only Dodgers pitchers to close out a World Series championship, then throw the first pitch of the next season. Koufax beat the New York Yankees in 1963 to win World Series MVP, just like Yamamoto last year.

In 1964 he started the Dodgers’ first game, also at Dodger Stadium, this time a shutout to beat the St. Louis Cardinals. It was the only opening day start of Koufax’s illustrious career.

While Koufax and soon Yamamoto are the only Dodgers to follow the last pitch of a championship and the first pitch of the next season, eight others in modern franchise history threw the Dodgers’ final pitch of one season and the first pitch of the next.

Others in the Fall Classic

Brooklyn lost the best-of-nine World Series five games to two in 1916, their first trip to the Fall Classic. Wheezer Dell pitched a scoreless inning to conclude the Dodgers’ pitching in that series, then started on opening day in 1917 against the Phillies, allowing six runs in five innings in a loss.

Carl Erskine pitched the final two innings of Game 7 of the 1952 World Series in scoreless fashion, in a game the Dodgers lost 4-2 to the rival New York Yankees. Then he started opening day in 1953 against the Pirates at Ebbets Field. That didn’t go as well for Erskine, who allowed four runs in three innings. But Brooklyn rallied for an 8-5 win.

One regular season into another

Right-hander Cy Barger pitched three of his seven major league seasons for Brooklyn, and closed out the 1910 season with a complete-game loss against the Boston Braves. He followed that up with the opening day start in 1911, and lost another one-run game to the Braves, this time on the road.

Dazzy Vance is the other Hall of Famer in this group along with Koufax, and just as Koufax won NL MVP in 1963, so did Vance in 1924 after leading the league in wins (28) and strikeouts (262). Vance on the last day of the 1924 season pitched his 30th complete game of the year in beating the Braves at Ebbets Field. Then in 1925, Vance beat the Philadelphia Phillies on opening day with another complete game.

Jesse Petty ended the 1926 season with a complete-game win over the Chicago Cubs, and started 1927 with an opening-day win in Boston.

Leftt-hander Watson Clarkbeat the Phillies to end the 1928 season, then started on opening day in 1929 in Boston. Clark lasted only three innings and allowed five runs, in a wild game Brooklyn lost 13-12.

Hall of Famer Don Drysdale pitched the final two innings in relief to beat the Cubs at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, closing out the 1960 season. Drysdale struck out two in that game to give him a major-league-leading 246 strikeouts on the season, at the time the fourth-most strikeouts in modern National League history.

Then Drysdale beat the Phillies in the same stadium with seven strong innings to open the 1961 campaign. That was the fourth consecutive opening day start for the then-24-year-old Drysdale, who would start seven opening days in his career.

Nobody knew it at the time, but Ramón Mártinezshutting out the Cincinnati Reds on August 11, 1994 was the Dodgers’ final game of the season. Before this start, Mártinez was briefly back home in Glendale for the birth of his daughter.

“They were saying to me, ‘Have another kid,” Martínez said, laughing, to Maryanne Hudson of the Los Angeles Times.

The players’ strike began the next day, and labor strife escalated enough to cancel the World Series that year as well as lop one-ninth of the 1995 schedule as well. Once an accord between players and owners was finally reached and a shortened-spring training got folks ready, Martínez pitched six strong innings to beat the Florida Marlins in Miami in the Dodgers’ first game.

Cavs might avoid Giannis Antetokounmpo in upcoming matchup with Bucks

CLEVELAND, OHIO – NOVEMBER 17: Head coach Kenny Atkinson of the Cleveland Cavaliers talks with Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks during the first half at Rocket Arena on November 17, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio. Tuesday’s matchup will be the fourth and final time the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Milwaukee Bucks. So far, the Cavs have only had to deal with Giannis Antetokounmpo in one and a half of those games. They could be avoiding him again on Tuesday.

The Bucks have listed Antetokounmpo as questionable for Tuesday’s game with a left ankle sprain. Antetokounmpo left the Bucks’ win over the Indiana Pacers in the second half on Sunday with an injury that head coach Doc Rivers called a likely hyperextension at the time.

The Bucks’ goals for the remainder of the season are unclear. Antetokounmpo has been heavily involved in trade rumors at the deadline. All signs point to him being dealt in the summer. And if that’s the plan, there’s no point in having him play in what seem like meaningless games.

Right now, Milwaukee is five and a half games behind the Charlotte Hornets for the 10th seed, which is the final spot in the Play-In. Additionally, the Bucks have won just two of their last 10 games. It certainly doesn’t feel like there’s much to really play for at this point, especially if it puts Antetokounmpo in harm’s way before a possible trade.

On the season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game on 62.4% shooting. Milwaukee has been 11-20 without Antetokounmpo this season and 17-19 when he suits up.

Antetokounmpo isn’t the only player the Bucks could be missing. Starting center Myles Turner is questionable for Tuesday’s game with a right calf strain. Additionally, Ousmane Dieng is questionable due to an illness.

The Cavs will be without Jarrett Allen (knee) for the sixth game in a row. Craig Porter Jr. (groin) and Tyrese Proctor (quad) are also out. Sam Merrill (hamstring) is questionable to return. Jaylon Tyson (ankle) is probable for Tuesday’s game.

Among the Dodgers non-roster players invited to big league camp in spring training is a mix of veterans on minor league deals plus top prospects Josue De Paula, Zyhir Hope, Jackson Ferris, and others.

Last season, nine of the 27 non-roster invitees in big league camp eventually played for the Dodgers during the regular season, including Roki Sasaki, Dalton Rushing, and Justin Dean, who also played in the postseason.

Among the 32 initial non-roster invitees to Dodgers camp are 17 pitchers, five catchers, and 10 other position players. Here’s a little more on each player. We’ll update this list throughout spring training as other players are signed and roster cuts are made.

Pitchers (2)

RHP — Chris Campos (No. 62)
2025 spring training: Dodgers (minors)
2025 highest level: Double-A
2026 age: 25
How acquired: 2022 draft, 7th round

Campos in a full year at Double-A Tulsa in 2025 had a 4.19 ERA with 111 strikeouts and 32 walks in 126 2/3 innings. He got engaged in December.

RHP — Patrick Copen (85)
2025 spring training: Dodgers (minors)
2025 highest level: Double-A
2026 age: 24
How acquired: 2023 draft, 7th round
Cut date: March 2

After taking a line drive off his face and losing vision in his right eye to end his 2024 season, the tall right-hander had a very nice bounce-back season in 2025, posting a 3.59 ERA in 26 starts and 117 2/3 innings between Great Lakes and Tulsa, and led all Dodgers minor league pitchers with 152 strikeouts.

RHP — Carlos Durán (82)
2025 spring training: Dodgers (NRI)
2025 highest level: MLB
2026 age: 24
How acquired: minor league deal, December 12, 2025
Cut date: March 8

Originally signed by the Dodgers out of the Dominican Republic in 2018, Durán last April was traded to the A’s for outfielder Esteury Ruiz. The right-hander made his major league debut with the A’s in May, but allowed three runs and recorded one out in his only major league appearance to date. Sent outright off the A’s 40-man roster in June, Durán had a 5.74 ERA in 62 2/3 Triple-A innings with nearly as many walks (55) as strikeouts (67) before reaching minor league free agency at the conclusion of the season.

LHP — Jackson Ferris (93)
2025 spring training: Dodgers (NRI)
2025 highest level: Double-A
2026 age: 22
How acquired: trade with Cubs, January 11, 2024
Cut date: March 8

Named to several top-100 prospect lists prior to the 2025 season, after winning the Branch Rickey Award as the Dodgers minor league pitcher of the year in 2024, Ferris took a bit of a step back in his full season in Tulsa, with a 3.86 ERA in 126 innings, with a slightly lower strikeout rate (24.2 percent after 27.4 percent) and slightly higher walk rate (10.8 percent to 11.8 percent) than the season before. But he improved down the stretch for Tulsa in 2025 — after a 6.58 ERA and 4.45 FIP in his first 12 outings, Ferris had a 2.19 ERA the rest of the way, with only three home runs allowed over his final 14 starts.

LHP — Luke Fox (89)
2025 spring training: Dodgers (minors)
2025 highest level: Double-A
2026 age: 24
How acquired: 2023 draft, 17th round

Fox split time between High-A Great Lakes and Double-A Tulsa, combining for a 2.85 ERA in 22 games, including 21 starts, with 110 strikeouts and 53 walks in 98 innings.

2025 highest level: Triple-A
2026 age: 27
How acquired: minor league deal, December 16, 2025
Cut date: March 2

Frasso was acquired from the Blue Jays in the Mitch White trade in August 2022, and spent the last two seasons on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, though he hasn’t yet pitched in the majors. After shoulder and hip surgeries wiped out his 2024 season, Frasso had a 5.49 ERA in 43 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2025, with 68 strikeouts and 42 walks in 77 innings, before getting non-tendered in November.

RHP — Carson Hobbs (71)
2025 spring training: Dodgers (minors)
2025 highest level: Double-A
2026 age: 24
How acquired: 2023 draft, 11th round
Cut date: March 8

Hobbs pitched in the back end of the bullpen for both Great Lakes and Tulsa, putting up a 2.04 ERA in 42 games, with 63 strikeouts and 21 walks in 53 innings. His 20.9-percent strikeout-minus walk rate was third-best in the Dodgers minors with a minimum of 50 innings.

LHP — Cole Irvin (38)

2025 highest level: Korean Baseball Organization
2026 age: 32
How acquired: minor league deal, February 3, 2026
Cut date: March 16

The veteran starter pitched six seasons in the majors for the Phillies, A’s, Orioles, and Twins before heading over to the KBO in 2025. Irvin put up a 4.48 ERA in 28 starts for Doosan last year, with 128 strikeouts and 79 walks in 144 2/3 innings.

A second-round pick of the Brewers in 2019, Kelly has pitched six seasons in the minors in the Brewers, Rangers, and Rockies systems. He had a 5.63 ERA in 34 relief appearances in 2025 for Triple-A Albuquerque, with 41 strikeouts and 27 walks in 38 1/3 innings. On the road last year, away from pitching on the moon, Kelly had a 3.43 ERA, 25 strikeouts, and 13 walks in 21 innings, plus zero home runs and a .345 slugging percentage allowed.

How acquired: minor league free agent, August 16, 2025
Cut date: March 8

After pitching parts of two-seasons for the Mariners and Royals, Mills had Tommy John surgery that wiped out his 2023-24 seasons. Last year in Triple-A Worcester, Mills put up a 3.12 ERA in 52 innings, with 49 strikeouts and 30 walks.
